The Day I Fell in Love...

February 26, 2008 by Jaclyn Rose

, , ,

with the Los Angeles Clippers.

It all started with a call to 102.7 KIISFM. I was in the car with Alan dropping him off to school. The giveaway that day was tickets to either a Lakers/Clippers/Kings game in the VIP suite box. I decided to try to be caller 102 that day because I wanted to win tickets to a Lakers game for Mr. Man (big time Lakers fan).

On my first try this is what happened.
KIISFM: Good Morning, KIISFM
Me: Am I caller 102?
KIISFM: For the Clippers tickets?
Me: Yes
KIISFM: Turn off your radio
Me: Ok *turns off radio
KIISFM: What's your name?
Me: *I tell her my name
KIISFM: Spell your last name for me *for some reason my last name is hard to spell
Me: *spells last name (note: they still spelled it wrong, LOL)
KIISFM: What city are you calling from?
Me: City of Industry
KIISFM: How old are you?
Me: *I tell her my age
KIISFM: OK, I'm going to place you on hold and I need you to turn off your radio
*thinking to self, I already have it turned off

Then I hear the hold music: Check On It by Beyonce is playing, then one of Eve's song starts playing, then I hear Ryan Seacrest talking about DirectTV.

Ryan: ... And we have Jackie calling from the City of Industry, you just won yourself a pair of tickets to go see the Clippers in the DirectTV VIP Suite

Me: ALRIGHHHHHHHT *I was so nervous and I don't know why*

then Ryan starts promoting DirectTV, blah blah blah

Ryan: Jackie, You know I LOVE YOU!

Me: I LOVE YOU TOO *still so nervous, LOL*

then I'm placed on hold again....

Then the same lady asks me if I've talked to Ryan yet and I say yes and she gets my mailing address, birthdate, and phone number and tells me that they'll contact me on how to get my tickets.

So then I tell the whole world.. ok well whoever came across my path that day what happened. This was the first time I have ever won anything on the radio.

A week passed by and I still didn't hear about my tickets...

Then finally KIISFM calls me to give me their office address and when I can pick them up. So on my way to Santa Maria that week, I stopped by Burbank to pick up the tickets.

And on 4/4/06, Mr. Man and I headed over to the Staples center to go watch a game which in the first half didn't look so good for the Clippers.

By halftime they were down by a dozen points and it didn't look like they would come out winning in this game. Mr. Man wanted us to leave in the 3rd quarter, but I told him I have a feeling that they're going to make a comeback. And what happened? They came back and won the game by a few points. That was the first basketball game I have ever been into. And ever since then, I've been a Clippers fan.
