FOTD: Hold the Pose

by Jaclyn Rose 1 comments

, ,

I went for a subtle yet illuminating look for today's FOTD. MAC Hold the Pose lipstick was used for the final touches hence the FOTD name: Hold the Pose.

So I was sitting at my desk editing the pictures for this post when I realized that the jar holding my MAC Breezy blush was actually on my desk. Remember when I had a little depotting incident that cracked my Breezy blush? Then Christiana and I attempted to transfer the cracked blush from the pan to a jar while drunk.

Anyways, so I just realized that the jar I thought was blush was in fact not blush at all, but my broken eyeshadow, MAC Sunset B. It was in a similar looking jar. My point is that I used eyeshadow as blush in this FOTD and I didn't do it intentionally, lol. I guess you can say that's what I get for not labeling things. HAHA. Ok now on to the FOTD...

Revlon Fantasy Lengths false eyelashes in Flirty. When I saw them in the package, it didn't look like it would be that dramatic. Once on, I mean, you can't help but bat your eyelashes and be a lil flirty. =P

J.Rose on WoW: Loque'Nahak Found

December 19, 2009 by Jaclyn Rose 4 comments

,

The Search for Loque'Nahak has ENDED! After about a month of camping this rare, we can now say she belongs to Mr. Man's hunter (whose name we changed to Proxshot). Read on to read my tale on how I got this beautiful Spirit Beast tamed.

Can I just let out a big sigh and say "FREAKIN' FINALLY!"

So for the last week or so, I almost kind of gave up on this search. I felt like I was looking for dust in the wind! Then early in the afternoon on Thursday my efforts finally paid off!

In the beginning of the week, I started feeling real tired in the morning so I've been taking morning naps rather than logging in all three computers.

I had woken up from my nap and started going about my day. I logged onto WoW, started doing my dailies (cooking and fishing) since I logged out in Dalaran. I then started making my way to Sholazar Basin and as I was on the flight path over there, I started preparing my lunch. I also put baby E to sleep.

With lunch by my side (barbeque spare ribs w/ fried rice from the Thai restaurant near my house), I made my rounds... before I flew off, I had to do a little gankin' (LOL), but couldn't find any horde to victimize.

At about 1:28PM (4:28PM server time), as I was flying into one of the spots, I see this see through animal on the ground in the middle of the gorillas I have been watching day after day, week after week. I thought to myself, "Are my eyes deceiving me?" "Is that Loque??" "It can't BE!!!"

So I flew in a little closer, his nameplate came up and it said "Loque'Nahak" and at the same moment, SilverDragon pops up and tells me a rare spawn has been detected "Loque'Nahak"!

I almost didn't know what to do! I was actually logged on my warlock and I haven't logged onto Mr. Man's hunter yet. But before I could log on to his hunter, there was a horde right there next to Loque. I target him to see his health and saw that he was targetting the gorillas. I waited for a few seconds to see if he was going to try and kill Loque, but he didn't so I hopped quickly onto Mr. Man's comp to log him in all the while checking my computer screen to see if the horde was planning on doing something.

When I logged onto his hunter, he was camped around the corner so I immediately flew his hunter to Loque's spot. As I was flying in, I noticed an alliance (Paladin) there and I put in /say "Can you watch my back? I will pay you. I want to tame that pet."

I then proceed to try and tame Loque.... my heart is beating a mile a minute... I was sooo nervous!

ATTEMPT#1: I put the freezing trap down and I shoot Loque with an arrow and she's in an ice block. I start to tame, but I get an error "You have too many pets" NOOOOO! So I call out his current pet which is the core hound and I try to open his stable, but I can't because I'm in combat. Feign death, but Loque is attacking the core hound. Dismiss the core hound. Loque resets to her original spot.

ATTEMPT#2: I put the freezing trap down and shoot Loque with an arrow, but I was too close to the other gorillas and a gorilla gets in the freezing trap. Loque comes after me!!! I run around for a little bit and then Feign death.

I bet this Paladin is watching me like "Does this hunter even know what he's doing?!?!"

ATTEMPT#3: Ok, after the other failed attempts, I calmed down just a little bit and put the freezing trap down away from the gorillas. I shoot Loque, untarget her (to prevent auto-shot from breaking her from the freezing trap), then target her again and hit tame. 20 seconds later, Loque'Nahak is tamed!!!!!!! I ran to the Paladin that was "watching" my back and paid him 100 gold. He congratulated me and was off on his merry way.

I literally jumped up and down and kept saying "HELLLL YEAH!" haha and I had no one to tell it to since I was home alone and the baby was sleeping.

The boys walked in the door after coming home from school and I ran to tell them about the good news and we all cheered. They knew how long mommy and daddy have been trying to get this pet.

I had my oldest son put Loque in the stable so that way the pet does not show on the character screen.

I decided not to call Mr. Man and tell him the good news. We made a plan to distract him for awhile when he came home from work. I sent him in game mail. I actually named his pet and as it turns out you need to buy a glyph to rename the pet. So I bought the glyph and sent it to his hunter. But in game mail takes about an hour to get to the person.

I sent the mail at 1:51PM and he got home at 2:30PM so we had to distract him for about 20 minutes or so. The boys tried their best to distract but it wasn't good enough and Mr. Man wanted to log onto his account and it was only 2:40PM. Luckily, he wanted to hop into the random dungeon finder with his druid so that actually was perfect!

Then 2:51PM came around and I told him to log onto his hunter, he might have some mail.

He logs onto the hunter, reads the mail I sent him and opens his stable and he looked at me then looked at his screen to make sure and was soooo happy! Mission complete!

We take Loque out for a test drive to see her abilities. Makes me want to level my hunter to tame a Loque myself. LOL.

Look at that moonfire!

So where are the screenshots of the hunter taming Loque? Where's the video footage? I was so nervous I didn't think to Fraps it or even take any screenshots. I know, huh? I'm such a noob. I don't care, I helped tame Loque! HAHA!

My warlock checking out what she helped locate!

And that there folks is my story on taming Loque'Nahak.

FOTD: Dangerously Hip

December 17, 2009 by Jaclyn Rose 2 comments

, ,

I purchased MAC Hipster lipstick (a burgundy-berry with a hint of red shimmer) quite a while ago and I've been meaning to use it, but it seems so bold to wear out as an everyday look. And we all know I don't go out much anymore so I just haven't had a chance to really use it.

Anyways, since I've been on an FOTD kick, I decided to put it to use. I went with a smokey red eye using the Dangerzone mineralize eyeshadow trio to go with it.

After seeing the lipcolor on me, I can totally see it as day look paired with a more neutral eye. What do you think?

FOTD: Swish It, Mi Amour

by Jaclyn Rose 1 comments

, ,

Was up late one night, got inspired and decided to put on some makeup. Using the makeup I still have left (the makeup I didn't post up on the J.Rose Online Blog Sale), this is what I came up with. The main eyeshadows I used were MAC Swish and MAC Parfait Amour.

I also played around with lighting and used my new camera, the Canon Powershot SD780IS so the following photos are taken without flash using a lamp strategically placed at different angles.

Let me know what you think of the photo quality compared to past FOTDs. Also, let me know if I capture the essence of the eye makeup a lot better. I personally think that the pictures came out pretty good. It's actually inspiring me to do more FOTDs. I may just decide to stop any more sales on the J.Rose Online Blog Sale and keep the makeup that hasn't sold yet. Since I'm still deciding, go check out what I have for sale! There may be something there that you want. Snatch it up before I change my mind =P

FYI: I also learned something new. If you are nearsighted like I am or have really bad eyesight like I do, it's not too smart to try and put on makeup without contacts or glasses on. I'm surprised how well my eye makeup turned out for being almost as blind as a bat.

Problems with Email

December 14, 2009 by Jaclyn Rose 0 comments

So I started noticing that I have been getting emails indicating that some emails that I've sent out or replied to didn't get to the recipient.

Here is the message:

Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems.

So apparently this problem lies with hotmail accounts. Windows Live sees teamlegion.net domain as spam. I tried sending an email from my teamlegion.net email to my own hotmail.com account and I got the same problem.

I even tried adding my jaclynrose (at) teamlegion (dot) net email account to my hotmail contacts but it still does not work.

I also have been getting the failure to deliver emails quite some time after I've sent the original email.

So if you had sent me an email and you have a hotmail account and you still haven't heard a response back from me, this is the reason.

I post this up especially because of my J.Rose Online Blog Sale. I don't want you guys to think I'm ignoring you! I'm not, I promise.

I can still receive emails from hotmail accounts, I just come across the issue of responding or sending emails to hotmail accounts. I do plan on going through my emails to check to see if there are any hotmail accounts that I've responded to and I will reply to those emails from my gmail account or my hotmail account. If you still don't hear from me, please send me another email jaclynrose (at) teamlegion (dot) net.

Thank you for your patience and I hope this does not cause any inconvenience.

J.Rose on WoW: The Search for Loque'Nahak

December 12, 2009 by Jaclyn Rose 4 comments

,

The Search for Loque'Nahak

Who is Loque'Nahak? Or better yet, What is Loque'Nahak? Well as you can tell from my title, it has to do with World of Warcraft. LOL.

Loque'Nahak (Mate of Har'koa) is a rare elite Spirit Beast that roams the jungles of Sholazar Basin. When the term "Rare" is used, it means that once it is killed or tamed it won't show up for another 3-6 hours, possibly longer. So thus begins my journey in finding this kitty kat that moonfires it's enemies.

First off, why am I looking for this cat? Do I want to kill it for the achievement [Frostbitten] where you have to kill all the rare spawns in Northrend? I would love to add that to my list of kills, but no that is not why I am looking for this cat.

I want to tame it! But wait, aren't you a warlock, Jrose? Yes I am. I actually want to tame it for Mr. Man's hunter.

He told me that he wanted a new exotic pet for his hunter and what better than a pretty looking one that moonfires! So he went about and did his research to find out where it spawns and what it takes to tame it. He google'd Loque'Nahak to find out spawn points, respawn timers, etc.

Loque'Nahak's confirmed spawn points

When Mr. Man first started searching for this rare cat, he had seen it show up a couple of times. The first time he saw Loque, he was in the middle of taming it when a horde enemy showed up, killed him, then killed the cat and Mr. Man got the achievement [Northern Exposure] for killing his first rare in Northrend. Anyways, he then logged out and thought to try again at a different time.

He logged in yet again, only to find Loque's dead corpse on the ground underneath his feet. The last time he tried looking for this cat was early in the morn. It was about 6:45AM last Saturday and as he flew around for a little bit, he saw Loque in all her glory.

But Mr. Man fumbled to hit the correct keys to frost trap it and tame it and he got killed a couple of times. When he finally realized what he was doing, another horde enemy saw the opportunity and took it. He killed Mr. Man and then killed the cat.

Mr. Man came into the room to wake me up to tell me of his sad story. I felt bad for him and that is where my search comes in. I learned of the spawn points, installed SilverDragon (an addon that detects rare spawns in the game) and proceeded to camp this kitty kat for my hunniebuns.

Our camp sites and path I take to patrol Loque'Nahak

So basically for the last week I've been helping Mr. Man camp this beautiful looking rare elite. I would have 3 computers on (if you haven't seen my "dining room turn computer room", check it out here - although it's been updated a tad bit since this picture was taken). In the above map the bottom two spots are where I would camp Mr. Man's hunter and my oldest son's warrior. Then I would patrol the other spawn points and sometimes going off track to gank some hordes, lol.

While patrolling the other spawn spots, I would spam my targeting macro:

/tar loque
/tar king
/tar aotona

Anyways, I've noticed the same folks, both alliance and horde either farming ore or other hunters patrolling. So that just tells me that the other hunters patrolling the same spots are probably either looking for Loque or the other 2 rares in this zone.

I started camping Loque myself last Saturday. That was the morning that Mr. Man could have had him. But didn't!

Loque'Nahak spawned at around 6:45AM. Then when I started looking for him, my SilverDragon addon popped up at around 9:30AM, but we couldn't actually find him. Then around 12:15PM King Krush (one of the other rare spawns in Sholazar Basin), showed up and we killed him. Ever since that, we haven't seen her spawn or the other rares. It's starting to feel like we are looking for a phantom cat!

Some helpful tips for other hunters camping this cat
- There are a total of 3 rare spawns in Sholazar Basin: Loque'Nahak, King Krush and Aotona
- Only one of the three rare spawns can be alive at a time.
- Respawn timer is 3-6 hours
- There are 7 known spawn points/areas (seen in map above) that Loque will show up.
- Once Loque is dead, it will take about 10 minutes for the corpse to despawn if it is not skinned.

I think that's all the important info that I can think of... Now back to my search! Wish me luck! And of course, if we should happen to be so lucky as to tame this pet, be prepared to see a post about it for sure!!!

A New Ask J.Rose Series

December 7, 2009 by Jaclyn Rose 3 comments

,

I know that when I first started this blog, I focused mainly on my makeup, hauls and looks and everything beauty related. I also ventured out into other topics such as computers, personal life and food to name a few. One of the categories I want to expand on is my Ask J.Rose series.

Now that my life mainly revolves around my new baby, I thought to myself, why not start a new topic and call it: Babies, Surviving the First Year.

Basically, it'll be a month by month encounter of my experience as a mommy to a new baby. I'll start with Month 0 (weeks 0-4) and go on from there. I figure that with the thoughts still fresh in my mind, why not share it with my readers. Even if you aren't pregnant or you don't have a baby, but you want to read about someone's experience, then this series is for you.

I'd like to think that a lot of you, my readers, have been reading up on my journey through pregnancy and the birth. I also know that I haven't been updating much, mainly because I don't wear a lot of makeup nowadays and because I'm getting rid of most of my makeup anyways in my J.Rose Online Blog Sale. This will actually give me something to blog about since I'm all about the baby nowadays.

So basically, for each month, I will type out my experience with just about everything that has to do with the baby, IE milestones, ideas, problems, solutions, doctor visits, videos and pictures.

My goal is to help out new mommies or soon to be mommies and at the same time entertain my readers. Baby E is now 7 months old so I will try to get out the first 6 months and post at least every week on this topic until I catch up to his age.

So if anyone has any questions relating to the baby, feel free to leave a comment on this entry or send an email jaclynrose (at) teamlegion (dot) net and I will reply to you and also add your question to that particular month's post.

I am currently working on Month 0 and that should be up soon after this post. Stay Tuned!

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, just a mother who wants to share her experience. Everyone's situation is different and every baby is their own unique self. What may work for some, may not work for others. So please take what I write here with precaution and always check with your doctor if there is something I mention that worked for my baby. I am also not saying I am an "expert", but this is my 3rd baby so I do like to think that I have a handful of wisdom in this area =)

So about a month ago, I decided to stop doing any more updates on the Beauty Blog Sale Directory.

But Cattie decided to take it upon herself and start up her own directory. I'm here to let you know that another directory is out there and available! Please show her some support and visit her site. Thanks for taking over, Cattie!

So J.Rose, are you affiliated with Devotion because you seem to always promote their site, MySpace, twitter, etc.? Or are you just a darn teeny boppin' groupie? Yes I know that I may have mentioned that I <3 Devotion and I may have told you that OMG, I Love Devotion and yes, I even pimped out their MySpace and Twitter page and yes, I may have told them on many occasions that if they need a girl for their next video, I would sooooooo want to be in it. HAHA, like that would ever happen, but does that make me a groupie?

HAHA but seriously, I really do enjoy their music and have enjoyed it since I first heard their first single, "When I" back in 1999. Oh yeah don't forget to visit their YouTube page for updated videos.

So I mean, if you like or love something, of course, you're gonna want to tell everyone about it right? So aside from Mr. Man and my boys and my WoW, Devotion is up there on my list of favorite things!

Review: HerStyler Colorful Seasons 5 Flat Iron

This is what is included in the box.

I've been meaning to type up a review on this bad boy. I personally purchased mine 2 months ago and finally got around to actually write up the review. I have used it maybe about 4-5 times since I've purchased it. I don't go out much anymore and when I did, I used this baby to do up my hair nice. Anyways, on to my review...

Features:
- 1.5" 100% ceramic plates
- Solid ceramic plates for fast and consistent straightening.
- Smooth hair quicker for less dryness, frizz and heat styling damage.
- The easiest way to straighten your hair.
- Leaves your hair with a glossy shine and preserves moisture.
- Can be use on any type of texture hair.
- 100% ceramic plates to reduce heat exposure.
- Hair becomes up to 3 times smoother and silker.
- Adjustable temperature ( 240ºF ~ 450ºF,120ºC ~ 232ºC )
- Free travel case.

I was at the Brea Mall one day to actually pick up the MAC Volcanic Ash Thermal mask when I got pulled to one of those kiosks in the middle. I was actually pulled by the guy at the Micabella kiosk and this boy did not quit. Kept telling me how gorgeous and beautiful I am, uhhh trying too hard sir? Anyways, after telling him that my makeup collection didn't need anymore added to it, he finally let me be on my way.

BUTTTT then the lady at the next kiosk suckered me into hearing her sales pitch. Although this time I was very interested since she was trying to sell me a flat iron. When I was at IMATS earlier in June, I was so tempted in getting a new flat iron, but my budget didn't allow me at the time.

Anyways, she sat me down in the chair and told me to take my hair out of it's messy ponytail/bun. I did and I pretty much surprised her with how much hair I have and how thick it was and on top of that how kinked and fluffy it was since it was in a bun.

She ran the flat iron through quite a bit of my hair and from that point I was sold on how fast it took my wavy/fluffy hair to smooth, straight and soft.

So yes, well as you can tell, I ended up buying it that day and I must say it was a very good investment. And it helps that they had it in RED!

Before I continue on, let me show you some pictures...

the Before pic - this is pretty much what my hair looks like when I take it out of it's ponytail/bun.

comparison pic of the ends of my hair. Left side: straightened with HerStyler and Right side: unstraightened

All straightened! (excuse the makeupless face)

Ok now that I've pretty much praised this item, you wanna know where you can get one and for how much right?

Where can you get it? $165 on HerStyler.com pretty pricey huh?

You can find it on the web for $49.99 - $129.99 on places such as eBay - HerStyler Colorful Seasons 5 Flat Iron

Or you can get it from Lisa (the lady who sold it to me) from the Brea Mall for $90 + tax. After seeing prices on eBay I felt like I paid too much, but then if you think about it, Lisa did say that with the receipt I can go back there anytime to get my product replaced if something should happen to it. As opposed to having to send it out to the manufacturer for the manufacturer's warranty. So that justifies it. =)

Her kiosk is located next to the Micabella kiosk which is on the lower level of the Brea Mall on the Nordstroms wing in front of the Bebe Sport store.

J.Rose's Thoughts: Prior to this flat iron, I was using a Remington that I probably bought from Target or Kmart for probably $20 and compared to this flat iron, it would take me 3-4 passes on each section to get my hair straightened. Also my old flat iron wasn't shaped to curl.

Curling with this flat iron is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of how to do it. It honestly took me awhile to figure it out. LOL. I used it to curl my hair the night I hung out with L and Wuz and the rest of the blogger babes. I don't know if you can see how curly it is in the pictures.

I also used it again to straighten my hair and give it a little curly wave at the end of my hair for my birthday celebration. Again, I don't know if you can see it in the pictures.

Prior to typing up this review, I straightened my hair and it took me half the time that I would normally take using my old flat iron. I'm going to estimate that I spent about 20 minutes on my thick coarse hair. That's pretty quick if you ask me. Well at least on my hair!

I like how it makes my hair shiny and soft and I didn't have to use any hair product.

Am I happy with my purchase? Most definitely!
