Review: SkinMD Natural Shielding Lotion

According to their website: Skin MD Natural is a shielding lotion, a very special type of lotion helping the skin restore its integrity, enhance its protective functions so that the skin is able to heal naturally and regain its youthful appearance. Skin MD Natural works by bonding with cells of the skin's outermost layer to form what works as an invisible shield. This layer of protection prevents environmental irritants and pollutants from penetrating the skin, while sealing in the skin's own natural oils and moisture, helping resolve the dry skin condition.

I received an email from a representative of SkinMD Natural to try out this lotion and I gladly accepted in hopes of finding a lotion that'll work for my dry hands (an issue that started right after I had baby E).

This review is a long time coming, I know. I don't even remember when I got the lotion in the mail. It took me a while to start using it. I just wish I had started using it right away!

Anyways, let's get back to the matter at hand. I wash dishes a lot and I've started to notice that my hands were really dry. I decided to give the SkinMD Natural Shielding Lotion a try and ended up using it on my hands to relieve the dryness I had going on.

I started using it right after I had washed my hands and/or washed dishes. I ended up using it at least 2-3 times a day. About a week later, I really did start to notice a difference. I can actually go longer throughout the day without having to re-apply even after washing a sink full of dishes.

So I thought to myself, and this was about a week before I typed up this review, why don't I put it through the ultimate test and I started using it on my middle son's skin.

Ever since my son was born, he has had skin problems. From eczema to really dry skin. He gets very rough dry patches here and there all over his body. During the wintertime is when his skin suffers the most and is always really dry and ashy.

So last week we replaced his bottle of Cetaphil with a bottle of the Shielding Lotion. We applied it at least twice a day on his arms and legs concentrating especially on the knees and elbows (where it's the most driest).

After about a few days, I did see some improvement. I took note how dry his elbows were during the first application of the day. And by the time it was the second application of the day, it wasn't as dry as it was before he started using this Shielding Lotion.

We've tried other lotions in the past and some of them he's complained of a burning feeling when the lotion is applied to his skin. He did not complain with this one. Downside is it does take a bit longer to seep into his skin, but I'm assuming that since it is labeled as "Shielding" then that's what it's doing (shielding the skin). It can feel a little greasy at first and you have to wait a bit for it to "dry" up.

Where you can you get it? You can purchase it directly on their website: SkinMD Natural Shielding Lotion for $18 for a 4 oz. bottle which should last about 1-2 months with daily use. They also give discounts for multiple bottle purchases. They even sell it by the gallon!

They do have a store locator in which you can find out if local stores sell it in your area. I typed in my zip code and found a lot of mom and pops pharmacies that carry them. I also saw Sav-On, Walgreens and Vons pop up in the search results. If you'd rather pick them up in a store, I'd suggest searching with their store locator.

J.Rose's Thoughts: I really liked that there really is no heavy scent. I suffer from nasal allergies and anything with a strong scent, ok even a subtle scent can trigger a sneezing bout with me. And that goes for even unscented lotions. I know weird right?

I will definitely keep this as part of my skincare routine and my son's skincare routine. It has helped him tremendously and I would totally recommend it to those with stubborn dry skin.

Would I purchase this? Yes I would. Once I am done with the bottles I was given, I am going to buy more. I will continue to use this for my son, but I may purchase the one with SPF now that summertime is coming around. My boys love to play outside a lot during the summertime!

SkinMD Natural was kind enough to offer J.Rose Online readers with a 20% discount. So cop your own bottle of SkinMD Shielding Lotion online @ 20% off by using discount code: JROSE (It is case sensitive so make sure you use all CAPS). Order Now!
