So Mr. Man and I decided to have a little challenge, a competition, if you will amongst the two of us.
We felt it was time we did something about the weight we've gained in the last couple of years.
When we first met, we were definitely a lot smaller and weighed a lot less than we do now. I mean just look at this pic below.

Back in 2000. Around the time when we first met each other.

And this is our most recent decent picture together taken 2 months ago.
Personally, my weight gain started a few years after I had my 2nd son. It's when I started working at PC Club.

Here I am about a few months before I started working at PC Club back in 2003. To go back to this would be my dream! It's funny how back then, I thought I was fat! OMG how I wish I could be at this weight. This would be my goal.
Going out to lunch with my co-workers on a daily basis and eating fast food and greasy asian food is what did it for me. On top of that, I didn't work out. I ended up gaining I would say about 15-20lbs.
Then I got pregnant with baby E and gained weight because of the pregnancy, but was fortunate enough to lose that weight pretty quick.

Here I was just a month or so before I found out I was pregnant back in 2008. Not too bad right? I mean even to go back to this, I'd be pretty happy.
I watched the scales throughout my pregnancy and gained a total of 28 pounds. I was so happy that those 28 pounds came off only about 3 weeks after baby E was born.

Here's a fuzzy pic of me just 3 weeks after giving birth.
Then in September/October of 2009 I started to notice myself gaining weight. Actually I noticed a lot of different symptoms, fatigue, exhaustion, insomnia, weight gain, hair loss. I accounted all of that to being a new mom and taking care of a newborn. I didn't think much of it.
I went in for my yearly checkup with my gynecologist in October and he must have thought something was up with me because he ordered quite a few blood tests. A month later, it was confirmed by my primary doctor that I have Hypothyroidism - which more than likely developed from postpartum throiditis.
I started treatment and it has helped me in terms of getting my thyroid levels back to normal, but not so much so in the weight department. I am now at my heaviest (not being pregnant) and it has gotten to me.
So this challenge is not only a challenge between Mr. Man and I, but a challenge with myself. I want to see if I can lose weight, exercise and eat right all while having this condition.
The challenge will last 3 months. We have 3 months to lose weight and the person who lost the most percentage wise will be the winner.
The prize? My prize will be a new tattoo. I've been wanting to get one for the longest time and he just hasn't agreed to it so that's why I haven't gotten a new one yet. So if I win, that is my prize!
I told BFF, Ceejae, to make an appointment for a session because I know I'm going to win. LOL.
But I don't know if I will win because I know Mr. Man can do it. He's done it before. Lost the weight and did it well. I mean just look at these before and after pictures.

Taken January 2008

Taken May 2008
He lost 40 pounds and 4 pant sizes in just 4 months.... so hmm.. I'm pretty sure he can do it again. =X
Our challenge starts tomorrow, April 5th and will end on July 4th with the results "show" =P at our annual 4th of July bbq/pool party.
I'll even periodically blog about it throughout the 3 months. We will be doing before and after pictures too.
Does anyone have any tips on exercises, food recipes, on anything that'll help me win this challenge? I need all the motivation I can get.
So with that said, weigh-in will be tonight... eeeeeek, I've been piggin' out all weekend knowing this is the last weekend I can actually pig out. I wonder how much I weigh!
Wish me Luck!!

Go Jackie, GO! I totally feel ya though, boys lose weight hella quick and I'm not just talking about Kirby. My brother lost 34-40 lbs over one summer. Granted he's a growing boy and shot up 3-4 inches, but still.
Anyway, I'm w/Team Jackie!!!
Good luck to both you and the Mr. Man!!! But I don't think you're that big right now to begin with! But if it's something you feel you need to do.. FULL SPEED ahead! We'll be cheering you on from the sidelines!!
Aw that's nice! I'm always saying i'm on a diet and wanting to lose weight lol.
Obviously, I'm not in your situation since you had kids! I'm sure you'll be able to do it!
That's a hot picture of you with the PC Club in 2003 haha.
Hmm.. well I suggest, obviously.. don't eat out!!
Drink lots of water, at least 8 COLD cups a day. cold/iced water helps you more than room temp. if you don't like pure water, try making iced tea from tea bags or using those crystal light water flavoring things
cardio at least 30 minutes everyday (or every other..try to!)
weight machines also works because the more muscle you have, faster your metabolism will be.
protein shake with water rather than milk after a workout. or you can eat something that's high in protein (ex: greek yogurt)
when i go to the gym (i got a 2 year contract at 24 hour fitness for $300, through the Costco website, you don't have to be a member of costco. $300 for 2 years vs $30 monthly..hmm do the math of how much you'll save!) i will usually do 30 minutes cardio, 10~15minutes arm/leg weights then 10~15minutes in the sauna. throughout the time, drinking 2~4 cups of water.
i haven't been going lately though.. lazy. i don't like going alone :[ i usually go with my BF but he's been out of town & now that he's back, he's at work! and has school papers to work on..booo.
i don't do this but... i'm sure you've heard the always eat breakfast because it will help you eat less throughout the rest of the day. if i don't eat breakfast, i eat an energy/protein bar instead
i'm trying to eat yogurt everyday that has added vitamin A & D and that "Live active cultures" thing. i read that it helps you burn more fat and a lot of other factors... and it's good for you vajaja! :P
mmm I bought this waist belt thing at walmart for $5. it's supposed to make your abdominal/ belly area sweat more to make you lose weight around that area. not sure if it's working. but hey, it's just $5
one recipe i like.. a cucumber "greek" salad... diced cucumbers, black olives, pepperonis/banana peppers, (you can add tomatoes and red peppers if you like). dressing: light olive oil, red wine vinegar, rice vinegar (optional, my little twist), lime or lemon juice and feta cheese. I like to put more lime juice/vinegar because i LOVE LOVE LOVE sour. feta cheese, i usually get the low fat one that's a flavored one such as tomato & basil
i could suggest so much more that i can't think of right now.... my boyfriend & mom say i'm a walking diet/health freak or something even though i don't eat all that well or have the best body lol.
Good luck! My brother did the same thing. He must have lost 50 lbs in less than 2 months. (All by unconventional methods of course.. ie. Running in 80 degree weather with plastic bags all over him, not eating anything, etc.) All for a girl! Tsk.
Anyway, I wish you luck! I came across this website as well...

Hope it helps a little.. It helped me out a bunch! Happy Easter!!
u go girl! i know you can do it! it just sucks because guys lose weight so much easier! everytime the hubby gets deployed we have a lil competition too to see who loses the most weight and he always wins! sorry i don't really have good tips for you other than drink a ton of water and lots f cardio! lol i'm not too good at the diet thing though either but good luck! i hope u win!
Thanks for the tips! I was skeptical when searching for an online weight loss website because I didn't think I could lose weight with the help of the internet. However, I was proven wrong by a website called www.fitclick.com. This site offer weight loss programs, community forums, tips, calorie counters, etc. I couldn't be more happier with the results and I continue to use this site every day. Good luck dieters.
