Some of you know that I've been growing my hair out for this cause. And today is the day I went out and chopped off my hair!

Here is how long my hair was as of yesterday.
Here are a few pictures showcasing my hair.

w/ Baby E at his First Birthday party

this was taken at work... a day when I got to straighten my hair with my HerStyler flat iron.

wearing a spongebob shirt and you can see that the shirt inspired this FOTD
So there are a few different pics. All the same, haha.. the one thing that is the same is the color. I haven't dyed my hair in I would say 2 1/2 years now.
Anyways, I don't know what came over me. I guess I was browsing the Locks of Love website and noticed that they do take layered hair, which was one of my concerns. As long as the longest layer is at least 10 inches. So that just made me say... "Just do it already!"

just like that with the swipe of a barber knife, my hair guy chopped off my hair!
What hairstyle did I go with? I went for a Victoria Beckham'ish A Line bob haircut. I've had this hairstyle in the past and I thought I'd resurrect it.
I also went for highlights as I was really tired of my dark brown/black hair that I've been sportin' for the last 3-4 years.

It's been a LONG time since I've had it this short! My head feels so much lighter, like a weight has been lifted off. Also the color, I LOVE IT! What do you think?

I had to throw this pic in. As I was taking pictures, baby E climbed up on my back just to be in the pic.

with my ponytail of hair

Look at that! That's a lot of hair! I wonder if this alone can make one wig!
So what do you think? I said it's about time and I'm glad I did it. Not only does my head feel lighter, and I have a new hair color, I am donating to a great cause that help children in need.
Has anyone donated to Locks of Love? It seems easy enough, fill out their form, stuff the hair in a ziploc, stuff in an envelope, mail it to them and then 3 months later get a thank you card. Is that how it works?

Hi Jackie...Your hair looks great! Love the cut and the color! You wanted to know if anybody had ever dealt with Locks of Love before? Well, 3 years ago my daughter Savannah (she was 7 years old at the time) saw an internet ad for LoL and she decided that she wanted to donate her butt-length honey-colored hair to *Kids with cancer* as she put it. She ended up getting a bob even shorter than yours, and they cut off a ponytail about 16 inches. We mailed it in and got a card in about 2 months. They were really impressed with a kid that young making the decision to donate. She is 10 now, and growing her hair long again, with plans to donate again in a year or two. My husband has gorgeous long hair too(to the middle of his back) and I think when Savvy donates again, he plans to join her!
Warmly,
Laurie
