Project 30 by 30

What is Project 30 by 30? Project 30 by 30 is the latest project in the life of J.Rose. As most of you know, I'll be turning 30 at the end of the year in November.

I decided now is the time I need to get crackin' on my goal of being at my goal weight by the time I turn 30. Something I said I've been wanting to do since the beginning of this year.

So the title "Project 30 by 30" = to lose 30 pounds by the time I turn 30.

A few months ago, I started a challenge with Mr. Man: Husband/Wife Weight Loss Challenge. And while it was a good idea, there was no motivation on my end and I ended up losing 8 pounds only to gain it back. So there goes that idea.

I figured summertime is here, my kids are out of school, my work schedule changed to 7AM - 4PM. It was perfect!

So I came up with a plan. I knew that I needed to get my workout done outside of the home as every time I come home, I'm bombarded with "Mommy this or Mommy that" or "Hunnie this or Hunnie that" or "Anak this or Anak that" (Anak = child, referring to what my mom calls me). With my work schedule starting an hour and a half earlier that allows me to get out of work by 4 PM. I go straight to the gym and by the time I'm done it should be 5:30 - 6 PM (depending on what time I get there). Then when I get home, I can give my undivided attention to my family and not have to worry about trying to find time for myself.

For the last 5 years or so, I've been concentrating so much on everyone else around me that I forgot about myself. It's time I take the time to concentrate on getting myself to a healthier me.

Here's a little background on myself...

I'm 5 feet tall. When I was pregnant with my oldest son, I weighed in at about 115 pounds. On the day I gave birth, I weighed in at 140 pounds, gaining 25 pounds during that pregnancy. Two weeks after his birth, I lost all pregnancy weight and dropped to about 110 pounds.

Then I got pregnant with my 2nd son and shot up to about 150 pounds by the time I gave birth. With this pregnancy, it took me about 3-4 months to lose the pregnancy weight and I dropped to about 120 pounds. So there I stayed at about 120-125 pounds.

Then I started working at PC Club. Over the course of the 5 years that I worked there, I gained about 20 pounds and I teetered at about 135-140 pounds, which wasn't too bad, but I wanted to lose the extra 20 pounds that I gained and go back to 120-125 pounds, but I worked so much that I hardly had any time to go to the gym or work out at home.

Then I got pregnant with baby E and shot up to my most heaviest at 168 pounds, gaining 28 pounds during that pregnancy. About 3 weeks after the birth of baby E, I lost that 28 pounds and I thought that it would jump start my mission on getting back to 120-125 pounds, but this baby was a handful to take care of so again no time for myself.

Then a few months passed by and I started to notice myself gaining weight. I wasn't working out, but I wasn't eating more than I usually do and on top of that I was still breastfeeding so why was I gaining weight?

As it turns out, I developed hypothyroidism which jacked up the hormones that breaks down food into energy, therefore causing me to gain the weight. I shot up to 154 pounds. The most I ever weighed (aside from being pregnant or just after giving birth).

With the weight loss challenge we started a few months ago, like I mentioned I only lost 8 pounds, but gained it right back.

And that's where I'm at right now...

Weight: 154 pounds
Height: 5'0"
Body Fat: 31%
BMI: 30.1

For body fat, I am still in the acceptable range for my age, but it's borderline unhealthy. My BMI indicates I'm in the Obesity range. So as you can see, I really want to do something about it. I need to. I want to. It's time! And I'm not kidding! I will do it!

This post is an intro to my newest project. At first, as a woman, I didn't want anyone to know how much I actually weigh because if you look at me, you wouldn't guess that I weigh what I do. But I figured if I get it out there, it'll help motivate me to show myself and everyone else that I can do it!

I started Project 30 by 30 earlier this week and I am going to check in once a week and let you all know how my week has gone. I got about 5 months to lose 30 pounds. It is do-able so it's not an outrageous goal.

My next post will be about Week 1 of Project 30 by 30.

I know I haven't posted an entry in almost a month and I thank those readers that still come by and I want to welcome any new readers I've accumulated over time.

Welcome to my life online, welcome to J.Rose Online!

P.S. Sorry for the picture-less post.

Good luck woman! You have great will power so I'm sure this will be easy for you. And like you said you really don't look big to me at all! And I can say I've seen you in person! :)

Girl I would never be able to to tell that you weighed that much! But I'm glad you found motivation to lose weight! My cousin has that hyperthyroid thing and she gained a TON of weight but I feel sad because she doesn't have the motivation to do anything about it. I recently found my motivation to go to the gym too! I've been so tired of telling myself "I want this body, or I wish I was more toned" [I don't think I'm fat at all] so I'm gonna go get it! Aw your post inspired me to write one about toning up too! Good luck with everything I know you can do it!
